Getting cheap car insurance for classic cars, used to be the easiest thing in the world but I’ve spoken with lots of brokers and insurers and it seems there is no strictly set criteria. About 7 years ago I was trying to insure my Escort Cosworth with a classic car insurance and I was told, that as the car was not over 25 years old I had no chance.

As you can imagine, I had no intention of using my beloved Cossie every day and my boy racing days are well and truly over. Keeping the family car on the road as well as the wife’s run around was already expensive enough and this 25 year thing was a real body blow. I had almost come to the decision to get rid of the car as realistically, I couldn’t justify keeping it and not taking the kids on holiday.

Then I decided to have another ring around, just to see what price I could get insurance for my car that was somehow not deemed classic. I was surprised when a voice at the other end of the line asked me why I didn’t get the car insured under a classic policy. The voice explained that they had insurers that would insure some cars under classic policy from 15 years old.

Since then I’ve had a lot more experience with insuring what I consider a classic car. I ran into the same problem when I came to insure my Impreza. It was a non turbo model but I was told by one insurer that they didn’t treat Subarus as classic until they reached 20 years old. It’s obvious then that different insurers have different criteria to be met for classic car insurance.

I’ve since learned that it’s not just the age of the car that varies from insurer to insurer but also the age of the driver. Of course it’s a given that the older you get the more responsible you are considered by insurers, but apparently some insurers refuse to give classic policies to people under a certain age. The best tip I can give anyone if they find their car or their selves are too young is don’t give up. If all fails though, look for a cherished car policy which is very similar to classic cover.

When you find an insurer that is willing to provide cover, make sure you maximise your savings by putting the family car on your driveway and your classic in the garage. Limit the number of miles you are going to do in it and lets face it, if it is worthy of the classic tag then you’re most likely going to be giving it dry miles. Keeping the predicted mileage down will drastically reduce the cost of your policy.

Whether you are running a fully-fledged taxi business or whether you just intend earning some extra money in your spare time, the subject of insurance for taxis is crucial as without it you are risking your livelihood and the well being of both you and your passengers.

Do I Need Insurance?

If you are driving a taxi n the UK then you require insurance or you are committing a criminal offense, and driving without insurance can carry a mandatory ban from driving or even a prison sentence.

Three Levels of Cover

When it comes to insurance for taxi owners there are three different levels of cover which you can take out. However it’s highly recommended that you opt for the most comprehensive insurance package available so you, your passengers, and your vehicle are fully protected.

1.	Third Party Only

Third party only insurance is the minimum level of insurance required to operate a vehicle on the roads of the UK. If you opt for this type of insurance you will be presented with the cheapest type of insurance, however this will only protect your passenger should they be involved in an accident on the road.

2.	Third Party with Fire and Theft

The second level of cover is exactly the same as third party only insurance except you are covered if your car is stolen or is damaged by fire. While fire may be considered to come under the category of vandalism, this type of insurance will not cover you if a window is smashed or anything else is done to your car in a mindless act of violence.

3.	Comprehensive Cover

Comprehensive cover will cover everything from your car being set on fire to things such as acts of terrorism. It will also protect your passengers should they be involved in an accident too, and this will include the protection of your own and their personal belongings. This is the most expensive type of insurance, but it’s certainly the best protection for your taxi business.

Other Additions

There are a large number of other additions to your insurance package available if you are running a taxi business, but the ones you want for certain are public liability insurance and employers liability insurance as this will give you protection against any legal claims or challenges made by your employees or any member of the public.

Insurance for taxi owners is available at taxiprotection

Whilst researching which UK caravan insurance policy to buy, it is important to make sure that your final purchase meets the reality of your requirements.

UK caravan insurance is NOT all the same and if you end up with the wrong cover, you may come to regret it in the unfortunate event of a claim.

This article is only meant as a general overview of UK caravan insurance and can’t discuss all the different elements that need to be considered but here are a few things that are important to remember.

Mileage is an important consideration and different insurance providers have different ideas about ‘standard annual mileage’. If your mileage is lower than normal, you may end up paying for cover that you don’t need and similarly if you travel much further afield, you may need to pay an increase in premium.

Some UK caravan insurance policies have very clearly defined parking restrictions which relate to where you are allowed to park overnight whilst in use. Check out the criteria and if you aren’t able to comply, your policy may be inappropriate for your needs.

Once you have taken the overall mileage into account, it is also wise to check what the policy will and won’t cover in terms of driving in Europe, if you can’t amend your trip to comply with the policy conditions; it’s a good idea to change your policy instead.

Similarly other policies will restrict the usage of your caravan to the UK mainland, bear with me here but this means that you won’t be covered if you are on any of the Scottish islands, Anglesey, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands. If you intend to visit any of these places, check your policy and make sure your caravan will be covered whilst you are there.

Some people find that they unexpectedly need to move into their touring caravan for a period of time, perhaps their home is being renovated or has been rendered uninhabitable in some way. Whilst the solution is obvious, the insurance implications need to be considered as many typical policies only include holiday usage.

UK caravan insurance is available from Caravanquoter

The water can be a very dangerous place and it’s no surprise that many accidents take place on water. Narrow boat insurance is an important asset if you are a narrow boat owner. In the unfortunate event of an accident it could potentially cost thousands to repair your boat whereas if you have insurance, the financial stress is taken away and the insurance company covers the costs (in part, if not all). Narrow boat insurance protects you in the same way car insurance protects motor vehicles against third party damage, theft and fire. If you had a collision with another boat or an accident, the insurance company deals with the damage and covers the cost of both boats involved.

It is vital you research insurance companies’ policies thoroughly and make sure you agree to everything before committing to a provider. It is a good idea to take narrow boat insurance out through a well known company to ensure you receive compensation if a claim is made. You need to make sure the policy insures all the contents of the boat as well as the boat itself as replacing all items inside the boat can be very expensive.

To obtain the most reasonable narrow boat insurance quote, search the internet or use a price comparison site. These sites search all insurance companies and find the most compatible and affordable insurance policy. For specialist insurance such as this, it is often better to go to a broker with experience in specific insurances rather than a general provider. A specialist provider might be a little more expensive but they usually have a much greater understanding of the needs and therefore policies are better.

When researching companies, make sure you check what the policy covers and also how much the excess fee is. Some companies have a high excess meaning that unless your claim is large your return from the claim can leave you significantly out of pocket.

Many companies offer a discount on the policy if you apply for insurance online and there are usually some good offers for new customer discount.

You must also read all fine print before signing the policy as it is vital you know what you are and aren’t covered for. Protecting yourself with narrow boat insurance takes away the strain of financial worry and you can relax and enjoy the water knowing your boat is protected.

Buy Narrow Boat Insurance from Boat Quote

Owning a shop can be very hard work. To prevent stress and financial worries it is a good idea to have some sort of insurance policy in place to cover the expense of an unfortunate event and any damage caused.

It is also a good idea to also take insurance for a shop to protect you against third party liabilities. When owing a shop it is a huge benefit to insure anything and everything to do with the business, many companies offer a wide range of shop insurance policies to cover this. This will take away the worry of finding the money to cover all repairs etc required.

If the unfortunate event of a fire occurred it could cost you thousands and even cause the company to go bust. You would be paying a fortune for new stock and also loss of revenue as you will not be able to trade and will lose business. Shop insurance takes away the stress and financial worry and also provides protection.

Make sure you research all different policies available for insurance for a shop. You must make sure the policy includes; public liability insurance and buildings and contents insurance, it is also a good idea to take out employers’ liability insurance too. Once you have chosen the basic package you require, you can add extras to your insurance policy such as business interruption protection and employee theft cover. Any insurance policy can be added to and adapted to your requirements. Insurance policies vary from cheap basic shop insurance that provides very basic cover and only protects the business bare minimum to the premium insurance packages that covers businesses for everything but does come with a cost. It is also vital to check the excess fee required to pay in a claim is made. To find the most suitable and cheap insurance policy you must research all companies and the policies they provide before committing to a policy. You must also read the fine print before signing the policy to ensure you know what you are covered for and your entitlement.

Need insurance for a shop? Visit Specialist Risks for quotes from top providers.

If anyone is lucky enough to get their own boat, it is vital that they also get some cover from a bona fide boat insurance broker to cover all eventualities in the case of accidents etc. We all like to get the cheapest kind of cover that we can but we should also be careful that it does not have any exclusion clauses which will penalize the owner when things go wrong unexpectedly.

The best place to start looking for this kind of cover in online. These days there are many companies offering all kinds of deals so the buyer can certainly compare like with like to see which the best policies are for him.

Finding the right policy is not easy as there are so many to choose from. Research will have to be done first but it may be a good idea to go with well known companies rather than the ‘back street’ variety which may close down in a month or two. Boats are expensive items so finding the right boat insurance broker to mitigate any losses is obviously very important indeed.

Although many of these sites will have all kinds of deals going on, particularly discounts and bonuses, it can get a little confusing. If there is already a policy on the family car etc, it may also be a good idea to see if the same company does maritime cover as well. In fact, buying multiple policies from just one company often attracts several different rebates or offers so try this one out as well.

When several policies have been perused, try highlighting all the relevant parts which will apply to the boat in question and then compare them with quotes from several different companies. Each will have its good points and bad so it is just a matter of finding one that best suits the owner and the boat.

Never, ever try to run the boat without this all important cover because disaster can strike in a second on the water. When a boat goes down, with all the equipment and people on board, the damages can run into many millions.

Boat Quote is a specialist insurance broker
